Brushes and Lunch
New Date: Sunday, April 7
10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Come for a watercolour paint lesson with local artist, Maya Heringa. Known to capture whimsical nature scenes, her craft involves a real playfulness with paint. Maya will assist students in losing attachment to detail, and work in a looser frame. With large-size paper and broad brushes, Maya delves into the wet nature of the medium. Maya works spectacularly with watercolour’s fluidity and will share some these mysteries. Her belief is that people work best with the colours they love, so participants will be choosing their own palate.
Pre-registration is required. Tickets are $60 which includes some supplies (see below), a delicious lunch and 4 hours of instruction time. Tickets are almost sold-out. Contact Taghum Hall to pre-register 778-463-1114 email@example.com. Course space is very limited.
SUPPLIES: Oversized watercolour paper will be provided. Participants should bring a variety of large-size brushes (see photo below). A 2″ brush from the hardware store will work well. Bring a “rigger” brush (long & fine) for more detailed work. Any watercolour paints will do. Work with your favourite colours. Bring an outline pen (eg: “Staedtler pigment liner 0.3” shown below), and, if you have them, some coloured pencils and/or pastels for embellishments.
Maya’s finished work is mixed media: a striking blend of watercolour, ink pen and coloured pencil. Come learn how she does it!
